If you do, is it formal or informal? What makes it effective?
Do you notice a difference in performance and results over time? Do you have greater staff retention?

I do spend considerable amount of my time grooming my management teams and I do it both formally and informally. I am a big believer in hiring the best and brightest and invest in them and find out what makes them 'tick' and continue honing their skills. For my case, the result really shows. During a very hard time (such as Dot Bust in 2001 or so), these people remains in the company even though they have lots of options out there. They stick around because they believe in the team, they appreciate the effort that we put in to enhance their skills.
Spoken like a true leader! Leaders who focus on their people, growing and developing them, will reap the rewards as you have experienced. Keep it up!
